Sitting down and picking up an acoustic guitar is a magical feeling when you are not quite sure what you are about to play but you know it's going to sound good...

You play a chord, you know the key you are playing in, the scales to use, the muscle memory of countless licks are dialled  in but that all disappears in a moment where you get lost in the music. You just play and expresss whatever it is you are feeling in that moment and trust your fingers will act in accordance with your heart and soul.

Ahhh the blues. You see, most people associate the blues with some sad 12 bars with repetitive lines. "My baby gone left me" kind of thing.  And although that is definitely a part of it the foundation of the blues is self expression.

The sad thing is a majority of beginner guitarists don't know how to play anything other than the songs they learn and although there is nothing wrong with that they are missing out on so much.

Why do many beginner guitarists get stuck without making any progress for years?

Learning to play guitar can be an incredibly satisfying, life - improving journey however many beginners never make it to the level they desire.

For some they are simply happy enough to strum their favourite songs but for many they simply don't know where to begin. This is especially true for online learners who learn mostly from YouTube videos.

YouTube is a great resource but with so much information out there it can be confusing and overwhelming. Sadly many beginners pack the guitar away and give up.

• They get frustrated because they try to run before they can walk because they have no clear path of progression.
• They find lessons that skip the foundations so everything is much harder.
• They are recieving different methods from a variety of different teachers which is just confusing

For all these reasons and many more, many budding guitarists never get close to their full potential and a wondrous journey is cut short.

All you need to start making progress is a clear path with clear instructions and practical exercises that are fun and enjoyable. Soon you will get the satisfaction of hearing yourself gradually get better. Then you are hooked.

Learning blues will introduce you to many concepts, techniques and skills that can be used for most types of music such as

• Rhythm

Once you start learning you will find the mystery of the guitar will gradually unravel and you will find yourself playing things you never thought was possible as your knowledge and skill improve over time.
